The Magician

Another morbid undertaking.

The Magician

He wore a hat,
so small yet it hid
a world of its own.

He wore a suit,
so simple yet it kept
wonders of its own.

He held a box,
so handy yet it lived
with powers of its own.

He came one day
and removed his hat;
"What a lovely girl you are!"
Held out a rose,
Whispered a spell or two,
And ran away.

He came the next day
and took off his suit;
"What a lovely girl you are!"
Removed the rest of his clothes,
Whispered a spell or two,
And ran away.

He came the day after that
and opened his box;
"What a lovely girl you are!"
Took a plastic and wore something underneath,
Whispered a spell or two,
And ran away.

He never came again.
No hat.
No suit.
No box.
But the lovely girl stayed weeping
all night long.
She never understood the spell or two.
And the great magician had ran away.
